If you’re a web developer, you’ve at least heard of Jakob Nielsen’s preachings. If you’re a graphics-intensive designer, you probably think he’s full of guff. The fact is that following his guidelines creates successful websites. Just ask Amazon.com.

Every year Nielsen publishes [Top Ten Web Design Mistakes]. Mistake #10, creating webpages that link to themselves, is probably one of the most violated guidelines. Even among the world’s best sites. Manually implementing a solution to fix #10 can be a pain. Using server side programming (such as PHP) can make adherence worth the time and money.
