The Color (without The Shape)

SlayerOffice developed a JavaScript Color Palette Creator last week, I have since incorporated his idea into this site.

The site’s new slogan: If you don’t like the colors, just reload.

Each time you load ‘the bofe blog’ you’ll see a new color scheme, this is done in PHP and CSS.

In order for browsers to recognize the PHP as CSS we had to resend a header:

%(php) header(‘Content-type: text/css’); %

Dynamically importing PHP generated CSS files is fairly easy, and is explained a little more in-depth at 1976Design. After hacking away at the JavaScript and converting it to PHP, I now selected which regions of the site would be assigned to which regions of the color palette.

Then I selected several base colors and set up a script to select them at random.

It had been a while since I coded. Feels good. Ahh…
