Cultivation
Friday night Ryan, Amber, and I saw Stacy Mitchhart at Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie in Nashville TN. They put on a hell of a show. The trumpet player didn’t miss a note. We only saw the first set, though.
Saturday (earlier today) I woke up and tried to find the Holiday Inn Express where the Triathlon Training boys and girls started their day. My roommate Matt (and his computer) proved to be a valuable asset to finding the Holiday Inn Express. Overall, I was amazed at the entire event’s atmosphere. Everyone worked for a good cause, everyone exerted a tremendous amount of effort, and everyone was extremely hospitable.
The weekend planted a few seeds in my mind:
- Physical fitness and being active are critical. I hope to adjust my work out schedule this week.
- Big cities aren’t only big, but they’re new to me. I’m not going to enjoy moving somewhere because it will take me forever to how to get anywhere.
- People aren’t all bad. There were 400 something complete strangers busting their chops to benefit the American Cancer Society.
- Kanye West’s music is enjoyable.
PS:
Yes Rick, I’m still toying with some ideas for the site. This is not even close to final and not even close to what the finished product will look like.
Good week for Web Apps
It’s been a pretty good week for web apps being released.
Gallery 2 is an outstanding overhaul to the Gallery script. It’s showing PHP is ready for some complex OOP.
Google Blog Search and Meebo are too early in release phase (Google’s is in Beta, Meebo is in public alpha) but they both show so much promise.
It’s a great time to be a web developer.
To the Right
No, I’m not going to denounce my liberal views [like another sell-out I know].
Not yet anyway.
I’m just toying around with an idea for a redesign.
Excuse the mess. Pardon the [delicious absence].
Already September
It’s been a while since I last posted.
I’m still alive and still going like a freight train towards my goals.
They are:
- Swim one mile by December 2005 (I’m up to 1KM now)
- Launch a new CTLT website by September 22, 2005 (Lots of testing to do still, around 170 pages completely overhauled to XHTML/CSS)
- 4.0 Grade Point Average (December 2005)
- Unveil new Gamma Delta website by October 10th (hailsinfonia.org)
- Assist CampWOWEvacuees.org with form-mailers, SEO, and training of their staff for posting files to the web (Finish it up this coming week)
- Rework our approach to the MSU labstats system, clean up the code and maybe open up the source (November 2005)
Everything is leading up to college graduation. I’m devoting a lot of time and effort to making myself more marketable.
Selfish? You bet.
